TaideTurvapaikka connects artists and refugees through art and cultural well-being workshops in the local Refugee reception centre. Each community art making session is immersive and horisontal. It is then followed by in-depth analysis of the artistic method in the cultural well-being and peaceful anti-racist action context. The cultural space created by TaideTurvapaikka in the Refugee reception centre allows peer support between the refugees in a safe creative atmosphere, as they often simply don´t have any space to engage in human communication with peers except for bureaucratic situations and occasional encounters. During workshops they share peer support, and not always necessarily using a common language, but through being creative together and immersing into artistic practices.
