Effectiveness of the Critical Time Intervention-Peer Support (CTI-PS) model- Lisbon Institute of Global Mental Health

About

The CTI-Peer Support project is a clinical trial designed to evaluate the effectiveness and feasibility of a new psychosocial intervention aimed at people with severe mental illness, whose core elements are a recovery-oriented approach and the employment of people with lived experience of severe mental illness and recovery as caregivers. In this project, teams of two people (a total of 12 workers) were hired and trained to deliver the intervention over a 9-month period to people with psychotic disorders discharged from inpatient psychiatric treatment facilities from three Psychiatry services in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area (Centro Hospitalar Universitário Lisboa Norte, Centro Hospitalar Lisboa Ocidental and Hospital Beatriz Ângelo). One of the main innovations of this project is the fact that one of the members of these teams is a person with a severe mental illness that experienced hospitalization and a process of recovery.
