The project involves training 10 individuals under 30 years old, with personal experience as users of mental health services, to become Peer Support Workers (550 hours). These 10 individuals are employed by our organization with an apprenticeship contract alternating with employment for 18 months to provide peer support services to the centers and projects we develop in the province of Castellón, aimed at people with mental health problems: psychosocial rehabilitation centers, supported housing, and community mental health promotion services. The team is coordinated by an instructor who is a peer support specialist and is supported by a mental health and employment technician. The services offered by the peer support workers include individual support, organizing and facilitating mutual support groups, recovery-focused training, advocacy actions, advising, and raising awareness. The project is funded by NextGen funds through the Government of Spain’s Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan and is carried out in collaboration with the State Public Employment Service (SEPE).
